RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - There are news plans in the near West End to make the Libbie Avenue shopping corridor more user-friendly.
As the area continues to grow, retailers at Libbie and Patterson want to better connect with retailers at Libbie and Grove.
It's really a perfect opportunity for business owners and developers in this area.
Libbie Avenue between Grove and Patterson is super convenient to people living along the Richmond and Henrico county line near UR, and leaders here say it's time to capitalize on that.
According to an article on RVA news, Libbie and Grove and Libbie and Patterson currently function as two separate associations, and leaders in the area want to bridge the gap. They believe a big part of that is becoming more pedestrian friendly.
That could include better signs to let you know when you are in the Libbie/Grove/Patterson area.
It might also mean additional trash cans and benches at bus stops and some new landscaping.
There's also some concerns about traffic as the area gets busier, so some people would like to see better street signs, different lighting and crosswalks.
These retailers now have a non-profit called project for public spaces involved in this effort, and they are now working with the city to see if they can get some more funding.
