VCU police to be more visible on MCV campus

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - VCU police officers are making themselves more visible on the MCV campus.

The department opened a new substation today on the corner of Marshall and 10th streets behind City Hall. Four officers will be based at the station.

Before, today, VCU police did not have a large area to work from, but say they needed it because MCV is growing.

"Services, everything that this campus offers all those programs are expanding on a daily basis," said VCU police chief John Venuti. "I want people coming here to see my police officers."

VCU police also recently launched a new text a tip program.

If you have information on a crime you can send it to 274637 and write VCUtip in the message headline.
