RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - If you're looking for a job you could be one of the hundreds of people McDonald's is looking to hire today.
A major hiring blitz is about to kick off, and all McDonald's locations are looking to hire; that's 300 jobs locally, 50,000 nationally.
"It's been terrible. I have a wife at home that just went through breast cancer," says Michael Mawyer.
"It's been so long, I don't know how long I've been out. Maybe three months," says DeShawn Hardaway.
They are just two out of dozens that steadily filled out these applications today.
In fact, manager Angela Figueroa is expecting to interview about 200 people today alone, for 12 to 15 open positions at one Hull Street location.
Pay is based on experience, but she won't be hiring just the "best of the best."
"You can have the most qualifications but if you aren't friendly and don't have a good disposition, then we're not interested," says Figueroa.
Part of this hiring blitz is to get away from the idea that working at a fast food restaurant is a "dead end job."
Hardaway gets that. "A lot of people look at it and say I don't want to work in fast food because people will laugh at me. I rather work and have a paycheck and laugh at everybody else," he said.
For today's job fair all you have to do is head to the closest McDonald's to you, and see what opportunities are available.
McDonald's is looking to fill crew team members, but some restaurant management positions are available too.
Most locations are holding their jobs fairs until 5 p.m. today.
