RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond police are investigating an apparent homicide in the 1000 block of Hospital Street at the intersection with Fourth Street in North Jackson Ward.
At approximately 5:04 p.m. Sunday, Richmond Police officers responded to the 1200 block of North 4th Street, next to Shockoe Hill Cemetery.
Officers found Melvin S. Edwards, 29, of the 2700 block of 4th Avenue, shot to death.
This appears to be an isolated incident, and investigators are still working to establish a motive. Investigators are following up on several leads, and are aggressively pursuing any witnesses to the crime.
