Chesterfield shopping center reopens after bomb scare

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - A Chesterfield grocery store and several school buses are safe after county police searched them for bombs.

Chesterfield police clearing the scene at Courthouse Road and Lucks Lane this morning. Police said around 7 a.m., an employee at the Food Lion grocery store at 1100 Courthouse Road found a note on a door.

The note was discovered just inside the doorway and detailed a threat to bomb the business and a Chesterfield County School bus that was located in the parking lot overnight. Police responded and, with the assistance of the Virginia State Police, searched the business and the school buses that had been located in the parking lot. The buses and the business were deemed safe by authorities and the business has reopened.
