1. This is a short term care option which provides the care giver with much needed relief from the duties of caring for their loved one. It can also be for short term rehabilitation after injury or illness. If they are being released from the hospital but not ready to return home, this program can provide the safety and security of having medical and therapeutic support while they get their strength back.
2. Many assisted living facilities provide this service, although levels of services and stay options may vary. It may also be used to "try-out" a facility prior to committing to permanent relocation.
