Ankle sprains

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - There are every day aches and pains that can be annoying, but may not ruin your life.

However just because you don't need to go to the emergency room, that doesn't mean your doctor can't help you out.

Dr. John Clay has some advice about ankle sprains.

They are often accompanied by pain, swelling, possible instability and inability to bear weight.

Treatment includes "rice" therapy which involves rest, ice, compression, and elevation.  Use over the counter pain relievers.

See doctor if you have severe pain, are unable to bear weight, or your ankle feels unstable.
