Man arrested for robbing Carytown bank


Police arrested the man they say robbed the Union First Market Bank in Carytown Tuesday.

Ashby Ryan Hare, 33, of Virginia Beach, was taken into custody last night by Virginia Beach Police. Officers arrested Hare without incident in a room in a beachfront hotel in Virginia Beach.

Hare has been served with a warrant for the Carytown bank robbery. He has also been charged with robbing two banks in Virginia Beach.

Hare was identified thanks to a tip called in to Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers shortly after surveillance photos and video were shown by local media.

Shortly after 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 5th, Hare entered the Union First Market Bank at 3556 W. Cary St. He passed a note to the teller demanding money. No weapon was displayed. Hare took the money provided by the teller and left the bank.
