Case continued for man accused of beating elderly woman

LOUISA, VA (WWBT) - The case for the man convicted of beating an elderly woman during a home invasion in Louisa was continued because he needs a new attorney.

Twenty-year-old Remone Houchens could spend the next 30 years behind bars — that's what a jury recommended back in December.

Houchens was found guilty of beating and robbing Lois Rosson in her home back in May. Houchens admitted to breaking into her house, but denied touching her.

Rosson was beaten in her own bed. The attack left her blind in one eye. Her family says she also has memory loss and feelings of anxiety.

During the trial, Houchens's mother appeared to be very angry. She says she still believes her son is innocent. A jury thought otherwise, and Houchens was found guilty.
