RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - In the past few years, more than a half a dozen road construction workers were hit by motorists — some even killed.
A vigil will be held Monday night to remember those victims.
This all comes on the heels of the start of National Work Zone Awareness Week.
There was an accident last May along I-64 in Henrico County. 48-year-old Meta Hall told police she was drinking after she drove through a work zone and hit a construction worker.
She was sentenced to nearly 3 years in jail because of the accident.
It's these type of accidents crews are trying to avoid.
Monday night's vigil is set to take place at the Workers Memorial along I-64 east near Afton Mountain in Albermarle County. It's set to start around 7 p.m.
