Police investigate kidnapping and robbery case

HENRICO COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - Police want to know who kidnapped and robbed a man - right by a county school bus stop - in the middle of the day. The intersection of Hungary and Middleton Gee Roads is a popular place.

Everyday, students like Briauna Bell get off the school bus and children are often seen playing on the swing set and chasing after the dog.

"For the most part, it's like a calm cool collected kind of neighborhood," said Bell.

But on Tuesday around the dinner hour - Henrico police got a call saying something unusual happened there; a man claiming to have been kidnapped and robbed.

Henrico Police say the victim lives in this neighborhood near Hungary and Middleton Gee Roads, he was walking down the street when a dark colored car approached him - 3 male suspects were in there, they had a gun, and forced him in the car.

Police say after the victim was robbed, he was let go near the bus stop.

"I might get my mom to pick me up from the bus stop, now, I'm not so sure about walking home by myself," said Bell.

It was near Maria Britt's home - where she lives with three little ones.

"We spend a lot of time outside for walks," said Britt. "I'm very shocked, I had no idea that this would happen. This neighborhood is very, very nice, and we go to the church right down the street," she said.

At least now, Britt says, she's can remind her kids of a valuable lesson.

"I've taught my kids about strangers and everything like that so they know," she said.

Police say they still need your help in this case - if you have any information that could lead to an arrest call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
