Tire comes off SUV in 195 crash, strikes two windshields
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Shortly after 9 a.m. this morning, Virginia State Police responded to a three vehicle crash on Interstate 195 northbound south of Laburnum Avenue in the City of Richmond.
The crash occurred when the front driver's tire of a 2003 Ford Explorer came off the vehicle as it was traveling northbound and crossed into the southbound lanes striking a 2001 Subaru Station wagon, according to State Police. After striking the station wagon's windshield, the tire crossed back over into the northbound lanes and struck the windshield of a 2005 Ford Taurus.
The driver of the Explorer, Allison C. Crowley, 20, of Glen Allen, was not injured in the crash and was wearing her safety belt.
The driver of the Subaru, Robin E. Schultz, 47, of Glen Allen, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported by ambulance to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. Schultz was wearing her safety belt.
The driver of the Taurus, Dawn W. Kritzer, 55, of Bumpass, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported by ambulance to Bon Secours Saint Mary's Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
