Exercise with a purpose

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - Dr. John Clay is suggesting to his patients that you exercise with a purpose.

Many patients often state they get their exercise by simply walking around at work doing day to day activities.  This is good but it is in their "comfort zone" and many people don't get an adequate heart rate response to give maximal cardiovascular benefit.

Attempt to get your heart rate up to at least 50 percent of your maximum heart rate  for 30 minutes 5 times per week.
