"VCU! Whoo," screamed one die-hard Rams fan.
At Home Team Grill, no shortage of Rams fans or Sweet 16 fans in general.
"The fight is on," said one fan.
It was standing room only, with a line stretched around sports bar, well before the games even started. Melanie Beach got a table early on and she means business.
(I have to ask what team are you rooting for?) "VCU baby #1," yelled Beach.
In the middle of it all, we just happened to find a rarity at this bar. A Kansas fan.
(Do you feel like a needle in a haystack?) "A big one a really, really big one. I paid four years tuition for someone to go to Kansas so I got to cheer for Kansas," said Debbie Rastberger.
But this wasn't the only party in "Hoopstown, USA." Earlier we took a ride over to Phil's Continental Lounge on Grove Avenue near the UR campus where Spiders fans dominated!
"Go Spiders, whoo... whoo," screamed fans.
Phil's started packing 'em in early too.
"Being a part of the city that's embraced it and having VCU in the Sweet 16 as well, it's a good competition and healthy rivalry in the city," said Spiders fan Lauren Bifulco.
"Win or lose, it's getting on the map and hopefully help with recruitment in the future," said Randy Kroger.
Fans with high hopes and great pride for the river city.
"It's our night. It's our tournament," said Beach.
