Chesterfield officers sue the county

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Dozens of Chesterfield officers have filed a lawsuit against the county, because of overtime.

The Richmond Times Dispatch reports that 71 officers filed suit, claiming the county refused to properly compensate its deputies and officers for the overtime hours they worked, under a 2005 state law that sets the rate.

The suit says the amount due the plaintiffs is unknown but it could exceed five million dollars.

A spokesman for the county, had no comment on the pending litigation.
