RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Sometimes food attracts more than customers. But one thing state health inspectors definitely don't like to see are roaches. Here's how a popular pizza restaurant handled the problem.

In Chesterfield, Cici's Pizza at 12100 Bermuda Crossroads lane had 4 critical violations. The report says several dead roaches were under the booths in the dining area.

Cici's sent us a statement saying, "Our number one priority at Cici's is to provide our guests with a safe, clean environment they can enjoy with their families. Our team immediately corrected all issues, and scored an A+ with zero demerits in a follow-up inspection. It's worth noting that we have routine, weekly preventative pest control visits, and our teams apply thorough daily evaluations to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, food quality and guest service."

In Henrico, China Taste Restaurant at 2623 New Market Road had 5 critical violations, including that the slicer had food debris stuck to it. Violations were corrected while the inspector was on site. We contacted China Taste, but did not receive comment.

And in Richmond, Viva Mexico Restaurant at 2929 West Cary Street had 4 critical violations. The inspector wrote that guacamole sauce, chopped tomatoes, raw beef and raw chicken were cold holding at improper temperatures. Some of the problems were corrected during the inspection, but some were repeated and corrected again during the follow-up inspection. The manager tells us the restaurant has just been cleaned, repainted and received a new floor.

This week's NBC12 Hall of Fame Award goes to Krispies Fried Chicken at 1625 Williamsburg Road in Richmond. Krispies has earned perfect scores on four out of five state health inspections.

Pescados China Street in Oregon Hill is donating 20% of Monday, March 28's take on lunch and dinner to the American Red Cross to help Japan's earthquake and tsunami survivors.
