PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) - The mayor of Petersburg wants to offer buy-outs to employees who are close to retirement.
Mayor Brian Moore made the proposal at Tuesday night's city council meeting. He says the move will help save the city money.
Right now, there are nearly 60 city employees who are eligible for retirement.
Under the proposal, buyouts would be available from may first through June 15. The board agreed to move forward and get feedback from the community.
