RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - On Monday, a Virginia State Police trooper was expected to officially meet the elderly Henrico couple he saved from their burning home.
Due to unforeseen events, the family is not available today and the meeting has been canceled, according to State Police spokesperson, Sergeant Thomas Molnar.
Trooper N.S. Sessoms was at home recovering from surgery earlier this month when he heard the cries for help and saw the house on fire.
He broke through the front door and raced inside, where he found an elderly man on the first floor.
He quickly got him out and then went back in for the man's wife, who was upstairs.
Trooper Sessoms has been with the state police for eight years.
