Richmond police respond to multiple overnight shootings

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – A total of four people were injured overnight in three different shootings.

Police say the first victim walked into the emergency room at Community Hospital around 2:00 Sunday morning. Police say the 22-year-old man was shot twice in the upper right leg. The victim claimed he was attacked in the 3800 block of M St. but when officers searched the area they were unable to find any evidence to support his claim.

The second shooting happened several hours later outside an after-hour lounge called the J Spot found near 34th and Hull St. Police arrived to find a 28-year-old man in the parking lot shot in the rear. Witnesses in the area told police another man had also been shot in the knee, but had already left for the hospital. Police say both men ended up at VCU Medical Center and are expected to survive. Detectives are working to determine what lead up to the shooting.

The final incident happened at 6:20 Sunday morning in the 1200 block of Mosby St. Police say a 19-year-old man was grazed on the forehead by a passing bullet. No word yet on what sparked that shooting.

No suspects have been arrested in any of these incidents and police urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
