Man seeks help at fire station for radioactive threat

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A possible HazMat situation in Richmond is now clear.

It all happened at fire station 24 in the 7400 block of Forest Hill Avenue just before 5:00 p.m.

We're told a construction worker operating heavy machinery discovered some items he believed were radioactive.

The man took the material to the Forest Hill fire station to get checked out.

It took HazMat crews about thirty minutes to give the worker the all-clear.

Fire officials say the material brought in was not radioactive.
