Man arrested in Northside shooting death

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Family and friends will gather today to remember Paul Gray, 41, who was shot at the intersection of West Fells and Saint James streets in the Barton Heights neighborhood. The vigil for Gray is tonight at 6 p.m. in the 100 block of Yancey Street.

Friday afternoon, Richmond Police announced the arrest of Lenard Charles Tarry, 26, of the 1700 block of Peter Paul Boulevard, for Gray's murder.

Tarry was picked up today by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. He has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

At approximately 2:50 a.m. Saturday, March 12th, officers were called to Fells and St. James streets for a report of random gunfire and were on scene within one minute.

When they arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital where one of the men, Paul Gray, later died of his injuries.

The motive for this crime appears to be robbery but the case remains under investigation.
