RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A homicide victims' family is asking for your help.

Michael Brown was shot and killed while celebrating his 20th birthday and a recent acceptance into college this past weekend.

Witnesses say it happened in an alley off 4th and East Main streets in downtown Richmond early Sunday morning.

Brown was inside the Aurora night club off East Grace Street when, witnesses say, he and another person were kicked out of the club for fighting.

Police believe that's what led to the shooting, because about an hour after that someone opened fire.

Club Aurora is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for shooting Michael Brown. That's in addition to a $1,000 Crime Stoppers reward.

The suspect is described as a black man with a light complexion - he has very distinctive, large spaces between his teeth.

Witnesses at the club saw him and say he was with several other people there so somebody knows who this person is.

That's why Brown's family and police have such high hopes of closing this case quickly.

If you can help, call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.

We will be hearing from Brown's family Friday morning at police headquarters at 10 a.m.
