CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) – NBC12 has learned of a scary situation in Chesterfield. A man exposed himself to a teenage girl and asked her to perform a sex act just minutes after he approached another teen. It happened on Tuscola Drive in the Mineola subdivision, which is about a mile from Thomas Dale High School
Both of girls are freshmen at the school. One had just gotten off the bus; the other was walking home from school. They told us if police are able to arrest a suspect, they'll be able to identify him. The man's face is burned into their memories.
In the quiet Chester neighborhood of Mineola, parents rarely think twice about letting their kids walk the streets alone. That feeling of security was shattered Monday afternoon by a man in a red car.
"I was just like freaked out," said one of the victims. "Like, this is a creeper."
We shielded the identities of the two girls who the suspect approached in separate incidents.
In the first encounter a 15-year-old girl was on her front porch searching for her keys when the red car pulled up and a man yelled to her.
"He was saying like 'hey baby' and 'hey sexy. Come here,'" she explained.
The teen ran inside the house and locked all the doors.
In the second incident just a few minutes later, a 14-year-old was walking to that same friend's house. She had just reached the ditch when the red car arrived.
"His penis is out and he's like playing with it," she said. "He starts to talk to me and he's like 'hey baby, come here. I know you want to come over here.'"
The girl explained the suspect then asked her to perform oral sex on him but he sped off when she ran in the house.
Her mother immediately called police when she explained what had happened.
"Totally terrified me to death," is how the mother described her reaction.
Now, her daughter won't be walking the short three and a half blocks from the bus stop alone.
"No it's not fair but for their safety I have to," she said.
The girls told NBC12 the man appeared to be in his 20s. He had a beard and black hair and was driving an older model red car.
We asked police if any similar incidents have been reported; they couldn't say at this point. A spokesperson thinks they should have more information to release Wednesday.
