Five Virginia schools in NCAA Tournament

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Hampton University, George Mason University, Old Dominion University, Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Richmond are all going dancing this week. The five VA schools have won spots to play in the NCAA tournament.

George Mason is going back as an at large selection, and will open the tournament against Villanova in Cleveland on Friday.

The Patriots lost in the semifinals of the CAA tournament.

Colonial Athletic Association champion Old Dominion will play Butler Thursday in Washington D.C.

The Monarchs face a team that reached the NCAA championship game last year. Old Dominion is the 9th seed, Butler an 8th seed.

Hampton is making their first appearance in the big dance since 2006 after wining the MEAC Championship this weekend. They will face off against Duke in Charlotte on Friday.
