HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - We continue to track new information about a story that has stunned our community: a woman, nearly nine months pregnant, found stabbed to death in Henrico.
The manhunt for the key suspect Gregory Nelson Jr., 27, continues. Both Nelson and his car are still missing.
Chesterfield County Police said today that Nelson was stopped at 1:46 a.m. Wednesday morning for a traffic violation, but at that time the homicide had not been reported. Henrico County Commonwealth's Attorney Wade Kizer said the traffic violation was for speeding on Courthouse Road. Kizer said, Chesterfield authorities thoroughly checked Nelson and acted appropriately.
The restaurant chain where both Nelson and Cisneros worked contacted NBC12 late Wednesday, as employees at the Chipotle near Willow Lawn served the dinner crowd.
Company spokesman, Chris Arnold, released this statement:
"We are incredibly saddened by this tragedy and offer our deepest sympathy to Susana's family. Susana was an adored member of our team and will be dearly missed."
No mention of Nelson, a manager at the restaurant, now wanted for murder.
Susana Cisneros, who was two weeks away from giving birth to a baby boy, died from multiple sharp force injuries to her neck.
Her relatives found her body behind the Hardee's near Chipotle after discovering the bloodied SUV that her brother said she borrowed so she could meet with Nelson.
Just last week her family held a baby shower, celebrating Susana's first child, which they say was fathered by Nelson who is married to another woman.
"Raise the kid by herself that's what she always said. She said, 'I don't need nobody to raise my kids,'" said Susana's brother.
As the manhunt intensified for Nelson, police zeroed in on his house. While they were here for most of the day, they only spent about an hour inside collecting evidence.
Moments later, Nelson's wife and her mother, left the Chesterfield house on Scotts Bluff Lane to stay the night elsewhere.
As questions remain about the whereabouts of Nelson, Cisneros' family recall a disturbing phone call.
Her brother said Nelson called them Tuesday night asking about Cisneros because he hadn't seen her.
"I promised my sister we'll find justice for the one that did it. That is a promise," said her brother.
Gregory Nelson was last seen in his black Toyota Camry with Virginia tags XSH-4405. Police believe he has ties to northern Virginia. If you have information call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
