RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A flood warning is in effect for the James River today.

Right now the water level is at about 12 feet, which is considered flood stage. But things shouldn't get much worse than that.

If you do head into the James today remember you need proper permits.

The best thing to do today if you're near the river is to check it out. You can get a great view of it all by heading down to Pony Pasture, or by going to the flood walls.

You can also go to the South end of the Manchester Bridge, walk up the stairs and enjoy the show!
