HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - A Henrico mother was arrested Monday following an incident that police say unfolded in early February with her infant child.

Yvette Harrison, 25, of Gordons Lane in Eastern Henrico, was charged Monday afternoon with one count of child neglect.

According to police, Harrison was home alone February 9 with her 11 month old daughter. Police say Harrison then placed the child on a mattress on the floor before she went outside for 20-30 minutes. Upon her return, police say the baby was suffering from 2nd and 3rd degree burns on the legs, arms, and forehead.

Police would not immediately release how the child ended up burned. A neighbor in touch with the family told us the girl came into contact with a baseboard heater, but authorities would not confirm that account.

Harrison was arraigned in Juvenile and Domestic Relations court Tuesday morning and was ordered to be held without bail. Harrison is due back in court in April. Her child is now in the custody of an unspecified family member.
