RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A smoother ride's in store for people who live or work in the Brandermill area of Chesterfield.
The county is finalizing plans to build a roundabout to ease traffic on Old Hundred Road near the new Clover Hill High School.
The Brandermill community learned more about this project and got a clearer picture of what it will look like earlier this month.
We have a picture of the plan for the new traffic circle where Old Hundred Road intersects Brandermill Parkway and Kelly Green Drive.
This area of Chesterfield County was already busy with everyday traffic from Swift Creek Middle School, but that flow has intensified since the new Clover Hill High School opened up nearby.
The Brandermill Community Association has posted information about this project on it's website.
Traffic studies proved a roundabout would be more effective than just a traffic light.
About 13,000 cars travel through the area everyday, and that number will likely increase to 17,000 by the year 2030.
The half million dollar project is being funded in part by the Chesterfield County school system, which is kicked in about $230,000.
Once construction begins this spring, traffic will not be redirected, but reduced to a single lane, so you could see some delays.
