RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Parlanti family has been serving it's Italian recipes for years at A Taste of Italy, now located at 12547 Waterford Place in Chesterfield.
"It's been around enough time we've seen everybody in the neighborhood grow up and share our food," said Roy Parlanti.
The restaurant usually earns good inspection scores. After getting 4 critical violations they showed us they made quick fixes.
"From the time the food is prepared, you have 7 days, 7 calendar days to get it off the shelf," Parlanti said.
All violations were corrected by the follow-up inspection except one. The report says the tomato sauce was not being adequately cooled. The Health Department says it must be cooled from 135 degrees to 70 degrees within 2 hours, and from 70 down to 41 degrees within 4 hours or bacteria can grow. The report says the restaurant is now using chilling equipment to cool their sauce.
Chinese Express, 9809 West Broad Street in Henrico had 4 critical violations. The chicken was on the table at room temperature when it should have been cooled rapidly and stored in a fridge. The restaurant had two critical violations on a follow-up inspection.
This week's NBC12 Hall of Fame Award goes to Arby's at 7110 Mechanicsville Turnpike in Hanover for a string of perfect inspections.
"I have one awesome crew. People have been here over eight years or more, all the way up to 25 years. They do an awesome job and the best the can every day," said general manager Brian Genisse.
