RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The owner of the Tobacco Company is taking advantage of property once owned by a convicted Richmond developer.

The Times Dispatch reports Jerry Cable purchased a commercial building in Shockoe Slip. The property was once owned by Richmond developer Justin French.

Cable tells the paper he plans to restore and improve the shopping area in the middle of a financial district.

The feds say Justin French was inflating the cost of work in order to get more money in tax credits. French will be sentenced May 3, and could faces up to 30 years in prison.
