Spotsylvania suspect robs convenience store in costume

Press release from Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office

SPOTSYLVANIA, VA – On February 20, 2011, at approximately 12:30AM the Sheriff's Office responded to a reported armed robbery. Sheriff's deputies responded to the 7-11 Store at 4248 Plank Road where they met the store clerk who advised they were filling a drink dispenser when they heard a customer enter the store. The clerk turned around to observe an individual dressed in all black, wearing a silver mask with a skull design, as well as gloves. The suspect held a black gun and had it pointed at her.

The suspect demanded money and the clerk walked to the register and complied with the request to place the money into a bag. The suspect also requested she put some Camel Crush cigarettes on the counter for him. The suspect gathered the bag and cigarettes and then left the store. He was last seen running towards the old Ukrop's store.

The clerk stated that the suspect seemed very calm, did not curse, and that he sounded like a white male. Detectives responded and viewed the stores videotape, and the investigation is on-going.
