Richmond's population grows 3%

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)- New 2010 census numbers reveal Richmond's population saw an increase, especially around the VCU campus.

The Times Dispatch reports the city population grew about three percent since 2000.

Seven of the city's nine districts saw an increase of residents..

But it was the city's 2nd district that saw a nearly 21 percent jump in residents.

The 2nd district includes VCU's Monroe Park campus, as well as parts of Oregon Hill, Carver and Jackson Ward neighborhoods.
