RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - New information about the computer system crash that took down several state agencies this past August.
An audit says human error by giant government contractor Northrop Grumman was to blame for the crash that idled at least two dozen state agencies -- including DMV.
People were unable to renew licenses for days.
The audit by Agilysis found that Northrop Grumman had not planned for an event such as the failure of a memory board.
The state's chief information officer says the audit will help Virginia hold Northrop Grumman accountable in meeting its $2.4 billion contract.
