RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Richmond police are looking for a man who pulled a gun on a trio of women outside a Walmart. It happened Sunday night around 9:30 at the store located on Sheila Lane near Forest Hill Avenue and Chippenham Parkway.

Three women were sitting in a car outside that Walmart. Police say a guy with a gun came up to them and snatched their purses. Tonight, as police track down the thief, some women are thinking about how they'd protect themselves and their stuff.

As shopper Linda Howell loads up her car, she admits the story scared her so much, she may soon pack heat.

"I think I will get my permit to carry a gun because I don't feel safe anymore. It's a very unsecure world that we live in," she said.

The three victims couldn't give cops a detailed description of the gunman, but did say he got away on foot by running through the woods behind the store.

Once we told women about the crime, they freaked out. Most women keep their wallets, private information and important paperwork inside their bags.

"ID's, social security cards, birth certificates, insurance cards," said concerned shopper Tequila Jackson.

Linda Howell has just as much info stuffed inside her bag. Tonight-- both women are taking their private info out and turning their radar on.

"Be on the lookout now, cause you never know," said Jackson.

Richmond police need your help catching this crook. If you know anything that can help, call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
