Child safety seats

FORT LEE, VA (WWBT) - Dr. Christopher Marshall is telling people the proper use to child safety seats at Family Health Clinic at the Crossings.

For infants up to 20 lbs.: the car seat should be rear facing in the back seat.  The straps should be at or below shoulder level.

For kids over 1 year and 20 to 40 pounds: make the seat forward facing and in the back. Straps at or above shoulder level.

Over 40 lbs. Ages 4-8, unless 4'9'': should sit in a belt positioning booster seat in the back.  Belt positioning booster seats must be used with both lap and shoulder belt.
