RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - These are exciting times for personal technology. We've got faster smart phones, iPads or other tablets and new applications to download for just about anything.
I like new technology as much as the next person, perhaps even more working in a TV station. But when does our personal use cross the line and become intrusive?
Twice this month I have been sitting in a coffee shop when a person sat down near me and had their smart phone in the speakerphone mode. In this way they were treating me and everyone else within earshot to their fascinating conference calls. I was not grateful for the opportunity to hear about their new product rollout or their upcoming business meeting.
Did I miss something? When did it become acceptable to do this? In football they throw a penalty flag for encroachment. It seems appropriate here as well.
As everyone is quickly becoming enabled to listen to or watch any content, anywhere at any time, some old school courtesy would be much appreciated.
