Funding, violations force day care to close

Posted by Shawn Maclauchlan

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A long-time Colonial Heights day care is forced to shutdown Friday, leaving families with little time to find help.

The Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Day Care in Colonial Heights has been operating for nearly 40 years.

The Times-Dispatch reports the church informed parents just a few days ago it was shutting the day care down due to funding and license problems.

A social services inspection last month found repeated violations with staff records and playground equipment.

At least 125 students were enrolled in the day care.
