RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A former Outlaws motorcycle gang leader convicted of racketeering has been sentenced to nine years, two months in federal prison.

Leslie Werth was a leader in the gang's Rock Hill, S.C., chapter. A jury in November convicted Werth of conspiracy to commit racketeering and conspiracy to commit violence in aid of racketeering.

Werth was sentenced Friday in Richmond by U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson.

Prosecutors asked for a sentence of 10 years and one month, which is at the upper end of federal sentencing guidelines. Werth's attorney asked for no more than five years.

Werth is among 27 biker gang members indicted in June 2010 on racketeering and other charges.

More than half pleaded guilty, five were convicted and three were acquitted in jury trials.
