HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – A Henrico woman wants answers after someone shot her cat, with a BB gun. It happened at her home on Brighton Road near Laburnum Avenue.
The woman's cat seems to be recovering tonight. Henrico Police are still looking for the person responsible for shooting the cat. They could be facing animal cruelty charges.
12-year-old Goldberg is doing much better today, but just this past Saturday her owner, Adrienne Kelley, took her pet to the vet for a check-up to find out why the cat was so sluggish.
"She hasn't been moving around too good for the last week," said Kelley.
That check-up found the reason why. Goldberg had been shot with a BB gun.
"I was angry!" said Kelley. "Because I suspected someone already."
A tiny little BB was found inside of Adrienne's cat, Goldberg. While she has her suspicions about who did it, she's trying to figure out why someone would want to shoot at one of her animals. Kelley believes the culprits are likely kids in her neighborhood playing around with a BB gun. For her it's no joke though. Her second cat is now showing the same symptoms as the first one, but she's out of money for more costly x-rays.
"So you possibly have two cats that could have gotten hit by a bb?" asked NBC 12's Evrod Cassimy.
"That's possible," responded Kelley.
Kelley isn't as upset today because her cats seem to be doing okay. While police have not confirmed whether neighborhood kids are responsible, she hopes her story encourages parents to pay attention to what their children are playing with.
"They shouldn't have a gun because they're, you know, some kids are not responsible," said Kelley.
Kelley does not know exactly when her cat was shot or why for that matter. If you have any information that can help investigators call Henrico Police.
