RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Get ready to pay a little more to use the Pocahontas Parkway.

If your drive to work or school takes you through the main toll plaza on 895, you'll be paying an extra 25 cents to get through this area.

This was a planned increase to help pay for bridge maintenance, inspection, signs, cameras, snow removal and construction debt.

But you wont be paying the extra cash all day long.

The change is only happening between the hours of 6 to 9 in the morning and from 3 to 6 in the evening - regular cars going through the main toll plaza will pay $3 during those hours.

Leaders for 895 say the extra money you pay will make your drive even better.

Despite the fact that thousand use the road everyday, the toll right now is not enough to pay off the cost to build the road.

About a month ago the airport connector opened up. The cost of that toll is not going up. It is going to be $1.25 all the time to go through that toll plaza.
