HANOVER COUNTY, VA (WWBT) – Twenty one year old Dermont Sims, a suspected burglar, is wanted in Richmond, Hanover, Henrico and Caroline Counties. There are six felony warrants out for him.

Sims is wanted in connection to the break in at Dave's Auto Repair shop on Mechanicsville Turnpike and two other auto shops on Shady Grove Road in the same area.

He's also wanted in Richmond for receiving stolen goods, Caroline County for burglary and vandalism, and in Henrico for receiving a stolen gun.

"He's involved in a lot of different things if he's not apprehended he's likely to continue to commit crimes," said Captain Michael Trice of Hanover Sheriff's Office.

Captain Trice says Sims knows he's a wanted man.

The crimes have left businesses, like Dave's Auto, working extra hard to help pay for cameras and other security equipment they've installed since the break-in.

Manager Linda Crigger said fear came over her the morning after the break in at Dave's Auto repair shop. The window to the garage was shattered.

"This window right here was completely busted out," said Linda Crigger, office Manager for Dave's Auto Repair.

The safe was gone along with tools, vehicle scanners, and inspection stickers.

We showed Crigger the photo, Hanover Sheriff's Office released – she recognized Sims right away.

About a week before Dave's Auto shop was burglarized, Crigger specifically remembered a man who looks a lot like Sims come in and ask to use the restroom, Linda said ‘sure' and directed him to the other side of the shop.

"When he asked that question, the man was by himself and being the people we are I said sure, its right there," she said.

Trice says Sims frequents eastern Henrico and the south side areas of Richmond.

If you have information, call Hanover County Sheriff's at 365-6140 or Crime Stoppers 780-1000.
