Falling ice at Super Bowl venue injures 5

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - A Super Bowl safety committee official says five people have been injured by falling ice at Cowboys Stadium.

Arnie Valdez says the ice fell about midday Friday.

Valdez says one person has been critically injured and taken to the hospital. He didn't immediately know about the others.

He says he could not say why those injured were at the stadium. An overnight snowstorm was the latest in a Super Bowl week full of winter weather in a normally temperate climate. An area that usually sees highs in the 50s has had subfreezing temperatures since Tuesday morning.

A Dallas airport, Love Field, is open again after being closed before dawn today because of snow on the runways. There have been hundreds of flight cancellations as well at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
