Chesterfield plans to extend time in class to help teachers

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Students in Chesterfield may have to be in the classroom a little longer next year, if school leaders have their way.

The Times-Dispatch reports leaders want teachers to have more time during the school year for staff development.

But in order to not lose instructional time and not extend the school year later into summer, they want to add 10 minutes to the school day.

The school board is scheduled to vote on the matter at a meeting on February 22.
