HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – A demolition crew today finally began tearing down the condemned Virginia Dental Association building, six months after it was struck by lightning.
The damaged building, located on Staples Mill Road in Henrico, became an eyesore as inspections and paperwork related to the incident were completed.
Severe weather on July 30 produced a lightning strike that hit the building, creating a plume of thick smoke that could be seen for miles. Approximately 30 firefighters helped put out the flames. Nobody was injured.
At the time, leaders of the VDA said they plan to rebuild.
