RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A follow up on the fire at the Old Buckingham Apartments in the Chesterfield last month.
Investigators have been unable to determine the precise cause, but they say it started on a ground-floor balcony and quickly spread to the upper floors. According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, fire investigators say the design of the vinyl siding contributed to the fire's rapid spread.
There are no exterior sprinklers outside of the building.
The fire marshal believes those problems may have contributed to two previous fires at the complex.
No one was injured in any of the fires, but a number of people were displaced.
