Dwindling roster does not keep VCU from winning

by Matt Lincoln

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - VCU keeps losing players, but they keep winning games.  Saturday Troy Daniels made his first start of the year, but he could not finish the game.  He broke his foot, and is out indefinitely.

Daniels is just the latest of a rash of injuries for VCU.  Leading scorer Jamie Skeen hurt his knee against Hofstra Thursday, and sat out Saturday.  There is no structural damage to the knee, but at this point there's no telling if he'll be available for the Ram's next game against Northeastern Wednesday.

The third leading scorer on the team, Brandon Rozzell has missed seven games with a broken hand, and won't be able to practice until next week.

Toby Veal, who was a starter earlier in the season, has missed nine games with an assortment of injuries.

Despite all the injury issues, VCU has won nine straight, including Saturday's 79-70 win over UNC-Wilmington.  They have a one game lead over George Mason in the CAA, with a record of 10-1.
