RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - VCU jumped out to a big first half lead over Hofstra, and now they lead the CAA after the first half of the conference season.
The Rams led by 15 points at halftime, and held on to beat the Pride 82-67 Thursday night at the Siegel Center. Juvonte Reddic had a career high 13 points. Bradford Burgess recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Jamie Skeen dominated play in the first half, hitting two three pointers in addition to playing strong in the paint. He had a team-high 18 points, but left the game midway through the second half with a knee injury. The team said he will be evaluated Friday.
VCU improves to 9-1 in the CAA, and 17-5 overall. Hofstra falls to 8-2 and 14-7. The Pride's Charles Jenkins came into the game as the third leading scorer in the nation. He was held to 20 points.
VCU next plays UNC-Wilmington on Saturday.
