Lawmakers may require physical education in schools

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Lawmakers in the general assembly are considering legislation that would require public schools to offer physical education classes.

The senate voted today to pass the bill, which would change Virginia law to require local school boards to adopt daily physical education programs for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.

If approved by the house and senate, then the measure would go into effect in the Fall of 2014.
