Spiders win at Dayton for first time

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Richmond Spiders have been road warriors, but there was one place they had never conquered.  Their winless streak at Dayton is over.

Kevin Anderson scored 26 points to lead the Spiders to a 70-61 win over the Flyers Tuesday night.  It is the Spiders first win at the University of Dayton Arena in nine tries.

Richmond held a two point lead at halftime, and Dayton took their first lead of the game shortly into the second half.  But Darien Brothers hit a three, and Dan Geriot had a three point play to key the Spiders holding on down the stretch.  Geriot finished with 13 points, and Richmond's leading scorer Justin Harper had 14.

Dayton was led by Chris Wright who had 22 points.

The Flyers came into the game much better rebounders than the Spiders, but Dayton only outrebounded UR 40-38.  The Spiders are the A-10's leading shooters, and they outshot the Flyers 45% to 34%

Richmond improves to 16-5 and 5-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Dayton falls to 15-6 and 3-3.

Richmond is next in action Saturday at home against Xavier.
