Two alarm fire destroys home in north Richmond

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - An investigation has begun after fire destroys a north Richmond home.

The fire broke out shortly after 4:00 Sunday afternoon in the 2900 block of Woodcliffe Avenue off of East Brookland Park Boulevard.

Firefighters say there was a sleeping man inside the home when the fire started.

Luckily the man's barking dog was able to wake him.

The two made it out safely and no one was hurt, but the house is destroyed.

The flames were so hot, the siding on a neighboring home melted.

Richmond fire crews are still working to clean up the scene and working on any hot spots.
